It all started when a statement released by Public Health Malaysia claimed that Aina Abdul’s performance indirectly encourage or normalize the act of self-hurt and suicidal attempt towards individuals with unstable mental health. And in the same statement, Public Health Malaysia asked the public to report the act to CMCF.
“There was no act that shows the action of suicidal attempt, instead it is an artistic expression and symbolism to a heart that has been hurt and broken, which is what the song is all about”
— Aina Abdul.

Through her Instagram, the new and rising singer has released her response in order to clear out the air. According to her, as a Muslim she did not even have the slightest thought to show such concept in her performance as she still knows which is right and wrong according to the religion.
Aina had also stated that her performance was merely her artistic expression and a continuation to the plot line on ‘Sumpah’ music video.
Despite the criticism, Aina’s performance during that night had won the hearts of the people with some even calling her as “winner” for the night. Some netizens expressed how Aina’s performance had touched their feelings and understood the message she was trying to deliver.

When analyzed the state given by Public Health Malaysia, some netizens can’t help but disagree to the statement. First, netizens couldn’t find any inclusion of sharp objects or ‘weapons’ used on stage and was the ‘blood’ the only reason why it was labelled as suicidal attempt.
But one thing that still remains unknown is that why such statement given by a big organization was so unprofessional and emotional through the words used?
