Almost everything has got an app today. Banks have apps, phone line service providers have apps and even shopping malls have apps. The point is to make things convenient for all the users.
Now, to make everyone’s life simpler, Petaling Jaya will soon launch its own parking payment app!
According to Says, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will be releasing this new apparatus on May 1st, 2018. The main reason for this is to reduce the hassle of looking for parking coupons or parking machines.
The app which is called the Smart Selangor Parking app will be tested in Dataran Sunway first because it is one of the most crowded places among the many towns in this state.
Even with 1,522 parking bays available, Dataran Sunway still faces constant double parking issues and illegal parking cases.

The app will make things much more convenient for everyone. Merely download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store then create an account. Top up a minimum of RM10 and you can pay using that system!
The parking rates will not differ either. Parking rates will still be 60 cents per hour, RM5 per day and RM100 per month.
Simply key in the street name where your vehicle is parked and proceed to pay accordingly.
Aside from just parking payment, this app also allows the traffic and MBPJ officers to issue summonses! So, don’t try to trick the system.

Plus, if you did unfortunately kena saman, you can pay through the app as well. Which means, you don’t have to travel all the way to the MBPJ offices just to pay for those summonses.
This would also mean that the pay-and-display machines will soon become obsolete. Once the Smart Selangor Parking app is open to the public, users can only pay using the app or the scratch coupons.

The app will be available for download starting April 23rd while it can only be used by the public on May 1st onward.
