It’s been a while since ELFs had to face the heartbreak of seeing a member leave but we may need to keep strong once more because Henry might be leaving Super Junior-M.
The Chinese-Canadian singer whom has danced and sang along with most of the Super Junior members since the sub-unit M was created in 2008.
For 10 years now, he has been with the group even through his own busy solo activities. However, seeing as his contract has expired, Henry has decided not to renew it and instead turn into a lone-ranger.
He made an official announcement and SM Entertainment also released a statement regarding this matter, Koreaboo reported.
The agency’s statement read,
“Henry’s exclusive contract (with us) has expired. We have ended the contract on good terms.
“Henry is planning on establishing a one-man agency to continue working as an artist.”
So, not only will the multi-talented man be leaving SM Entertainment, he will not be joining other agencies anytime soon either.
However, the question of whether he will continue promoting with Super Junior-M rose among fans but there is no official news regarding this matter yet.
This is the second time any of the Super Junior members left the group due to not renewing an expired contract. Kibum was the first member to do so in August, 2015 after going on an indefinite hiatus in 2009.
Meanwhile, Hangeng left the group in December 2009 after filing a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to terminate his contract.
Currently, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun are both inactive in the group due to serving their military service.
As for Sungmin, he decided to go on a hiatus after he was discharged from the military in 2016. Many speculate his decision was made after facing massive backlash for his marriage to actress Kim Sa Eun in 2014.
The current active members are Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Siwon and Donghae. Meanwhile, Zhou Mi is still a part of Super Junior-M.
