CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad is pleased to present the Maher Zain Malaysia Tour 2019, by the most popular Muslim artiste on Facebook and the most viewed on YouTube with 5.8 billion views to date.
The tour spans four cities i.e., Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. The globally-renowned Swedish multi-platinum singer-songwriter who hails from Lebanon is committed to a host of philanthropic initiatives.
Many of his songs are themed on spirituality and doing good, values that CIMB Islamic and CIMB Group also embrace in support of the Group’s sustainability agenda.
Rafe Haneef, CEO, Group Islamic Banking, CIMB Group said,
“We are delighted to present Maher Zain to our customers and his Malaysian fans.
“Apart from enabling Maher’s fans to enjoy his artistry and performance, we also hope that they will be inspired by Maher’s values that reflect true Shariah principles, including sharing his good fortune with the underprivileged and needy through his philanthropic initiatives.”
Maher’s passion for philanthropy is clearly reflected in the initiatives he has undertaken to positively impact communities and the environment.
In 2013, Maher performed in Canada on a tour organised by Islamic Relief to raise donations for typhoon victims in the Philippines. He had also performed in the UK edition of the “Sounds of Light” concert organised by Human Appeal International in aid of Syrian refugees.
When Maher celebrated his birthday with his Facebook fans, he also requested them to donate money to a charity that builds water wells in Africa.
Maher’s values are a reflection of CIMB Islamic’s commitment to CSR and the sustainability agenda, which include similar initiatives like funding entrepreneurship programmes for the underprivileged, and high-impact environmental conservation projects.
