Following the Malaysian flag fiasco during the opening ceremony of CK Classic International Open Taekwondo Championship few days back, the poster of the competition has made its round on Internet for the wrong reasons.
The five-starred Jalur Gemilang that was depicted in the international taekwondo competition conducted by Malaysian Basketball Association (MABA) had drawn criticism for being insensitive. It even had received attention of our Minister of Youths and Sports.
Saya tidak terima alasan “tersilap bendera”
Budak kecil berumur 5 tahun pun boleh tahu mana satu bendera MALAYSIA.
Saya sudah arahkan pejabat PJS siasat & ambil tindakan dengan segera.
Kita marah jika orang asing perlekehkan bendera Malaysia. Kita bagaimana? pic.twitter.com/HEsU8gtbd4

The organizing chairman C.K. Karan — president of CK Club and Selangor Taekwondo, finally opens up today and clarify the issue saying it was a logo, not the national flag.
❝ What we have displayed on the poster is not a flag but a logo created to embody both Malaysia and Selangor, being the host country and the state for the said event. ❞
He further added to clarify,
❝ The five-pointed star (part of the Selangor flag) was to show the event is being organized by Selangor, and to show that the participants are from five continents. It was an artist’s impression. ❞
❝ We would like to move forward and will change the star. ❞
▲ The organizer submitted the photo above and insisted they used the right flag.
Apparently, Karan had said that a letter of explanation was sent to relevant authorities. MABA has also apologized for their blunder and terminated the services of the contractor engaged to run the live stream of the event.
Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah — MABA’s patron, has also urged the authorities to act against the company involved.
