Looks Like BLACKPINK Will Be Making Their Hollywood Debut Soon

Looks like rising K-Pop sensation BlackPink is set to get even bigger.

According to Soompi, the South Korean girl group has officially signed with major American label, Interscope Records.

The music quartet’s agency, YG Entertainment, had announced on Tuesday that: “BlackPink recently signed a contract with Interscope, a label under Universal Music, the world’s largest record company. Through YG and Interscope’s partnership, we will make BlackPink global stars all over the world.”

The statement from the agency continued with: “As a partner of Universal Music Group (Interscope’s parent company), YG who has its own strengths in Asia, will be creating a diverse array of global projects in the future.”

BlackPink joins a spectacular list of artistes under Interscope Records including Lady Gaga, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, U2, Madonna, Selena Gomez and Imagine Dragons.

Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, Lucian Grainge, said: “I’m thrilled to expand our relationship with YG through the addition of BlackPink to the Interscope family. We look forward to building upon BlackPink’s remarkable early success by putting the global resources of UMG behind them and growing their audience around the world.”

John Janick, the chairman and CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M, added: “We are beyond excited to partner with YG in pursuit of their vision for BlackPink world domination.”

YG Entertainment head Yang Hyun Suk said: “We will work very closely with Universal, the largest music company in the world, and do everything we can to ensure BlackPink’s successful global debut and (future) activities.”

He added: “With BlackPink as a start, we anticipate that this will create a good momentum for YG’s artistes to advance into the North American and European markets in the future.”

Meanwhile, BlackPink’s music video for its hit single, Boombayah, has garnered over 400 million views on YouTube.

According to Soompi, the new development makes it the group’s third music video to hit the monumental milestone, after As If It’s Your Last and Ddu Du Ddu Du.

The latter hit song currently holds the record for the fastest music video by a Korean group to reach the 400 million mark, which the group achieved in just 112 days.

On a different note, BlackPink member Jennie will be dropping her solo track on Nov 12, as announced by YG Entertainment, in a news report.

The other three members will also be releasing solo tunes in the near future.

Jennie’s new track will be performed for fans first during BlackPink’s upcoming solo concerts in Seoul on Nov 10 and 11.
