Disney’s Freeform Claps Back at the Hates

The recent reveal of the unexpected casting of a black female star, Halle Bailey as Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid has shook the whole world. Literally!

Since then, the world of Internet has been buzzing with reactions and comments from mixed reviews; some weren’t having it while an obviously large number was supportive and even applauded Disney’s brave move.

The debate was so heated at some point that a number of opinionated people began to tweet using #notmyariel to express their disagreement to the issue.

And today, Freeform (an American pay television channel owned by Walt Disney Television), took to Instagram and uploaded a picture of an open letter with the caption “An open letter to the Poor, Unfortunate Souls”.

In the post, it was clear that Freeform wasn’t happy with some of the negative feedback. Honestly, why are people even getting upset by featuring diversity in films? This hardly was done back in the early 2000’s.

It’s 2019! Not supporting diversity? Girl, bye! NEXT!
