It is official, you guys! G-Dragon will be enlisting into the army on February 27th, 2018!
Out of all the Big Bang members, he is the third one to enlist. Member T.O.P is currently enlisting as well while Taeyang will be joining the army on March 12th, 2018. Daesung and Seungri have yet to do so.
According to Koreaboo, YG Entertainment released a statement saying,
“We can confirm that he received his draft notice. All the BIGBANG members already had considered enlisting in the military shortly after they received the military enlistment draft notice.
“G-Dragon will be enlisting at the end of this month on February 27.”
The reason for the sudden news is because G-Dragon actually didn’t want to make a big fuss out of it. He wanted to serve his country earnestly when enlisted and does not wish to make a big hoo-ha before leaving.
“To avoid creating a public spectacle, G-Dragon plans to quietly enter the military as an active-duty soldier without an official public farewell and vows to earnestly serve in the military.”
To provide assurance to fans, G-Dragon said,
“Just as Spring comes after Winter, we will all meet together very soon. Until then, please be healthy and don’t be sad.
“The 5 BIGBANG members will always wish for everyone’s happiness since you are all the source of our strength. If we wait patiently day by day for us to reunite, the day will come quickly.
“Our love for you will never ever change.”
He is expected to be released from duty on November 27th, 2019. Meanwhile, T.O.P is expected to be released sometime in June 2019.
