7 Fashion Mistakes That You Should Leave Behind Before You Enter 2019

Whargh! 2018 is nearing its end? Where has the time gone?

Whether we like it or not, and before we know it, we will be another year older. Sigh…

Naturally the year-end is also the time to come up with a New Year’s resolution. It is the perfect excuse if there were any changes that we said we’d make but ended up failing to.

It’s the perfect time to reflect on your mistakes in life. This can include any fashion faux pas that you might have done, or even bad style habits that you might have.

If you can’t think of them right now, continue reading about these common fashion mistakes that people make. Perhaps you did too.

1. Try different types of jeans

“After years of investing in stiff 100% cotton jeans, it’s come to the point where I own very few jeans that are actually comfortable anymore. I plan on diversifying my denim collection more in 2019, starting with these two straight-leg stretch pairs.”

2. Diversify your wardrobe

“I tend to buy the same types of items over and over again such as jeans, tees, and boots, because that’s what I like to wear most, but when it comes time to go to an event, or if I simply feel like dressing up that day, I’m left with nothing fun or interesting to put on. Next year, I’m vowing to branch out and invest in more statement items that are still versatile.

3. Upgrade your undergarments

“Don’t judge, but my mistake is wearing the same nude bra every day and letting it essentially disintegrate, gather pills, and become ill-fitting. I wash it regularly, but at a certain point, it’s time for an upgrade. I’m going to try the below and am all ears for good recommendations!”

4. Get the right fit

“I feel like my clothes always need a little bit of tailoring, but I’m usually too lazy to actually get them tailored. As hard as I try to convince myself no one notices, I know they do. This year, I plan on really prioritising paying a little extra to make sure all of my clothes fit exactly how they are supposed to.”

5. Before buying something, ensure it has multiple uses

“I’ve realised that I tend to buy new items for specific occasions, and then I hardly ever wear them again. I am going to do my best to stop buying for occasions and invest in things that can work for a bunch of different places and events.”

6. Get a quality bag for work

“After a solid six years working in fashion, I’m finally investing in a quality work bag. (Long overdue—don’t judge me. So adios, flimsy tote, and hello, pretty leather bag.”

7. Curb impulsive buying

“On occasion, a great sale will influence me to buy something that’s not my exact size, but I’m vowing to put an end to that.”

Enter the new year with new outlook on life, and fashion.
