JYP Plans to Sue SHAUN if Chart Manipulation Rumours Proved True

Recently, South Korean electronic dance music (EDM) artist, SHAUN, became viral for all the wrong reasons. He suddenly rose to the number 1 spot beating out top artists like BLACKPINK and TWICE in local music charts.

Although the EDM artist’s agency, DCTOM Entertainment, said that these are just false accusations, a lot of people are still extremely sceptical of him, Koreaboo reported.

The agency said,

“To clarify, there is no chart manipulation or illegal marketing going on here. All we did was introduce the track via Facebook. From that, we saw an explosive reaction which must have reflected on the charts.

“This is the first time anything like this has happened in the Korean EDM scene. This is also the first time our agency’s managing artist has gone on the chart.

“So, while this is something we should all be celebrating with SHAUN, we are sadly being asked to explain ourselves because of false accusations and rumours.

“We will take strict legal action against those who try to defame Shaun by spreading false accusations and rumours. No matter how long it takes, we will not be lenient with taking care of this.”

The backlash towards SHAUN became much worse after his agency cancelled all of his scheduled plans due to mental health issues from the malicious comments.

Park Jin Young also stepped forward stating that he will take legal action against SHAUN if the rumours are actually true. Many people claim that the chart manipulation was also done to purposely bring down the aforementioned girl groups, TWICE and BLACKPINK.

Seeing as TWICE is under JYP Entertainment, it was only natural that the CEO himself would want to take action.

On his Instagram, the Jin Young said,

“Fair competition and evaluation is the cornerstone for any industry. Recently there are suspicions regarding music chart fabrication and it’s hurting all parties related to it.

“We heard there’re already requests made to the Ministry of culture, sports and tourism by another company.

“We are currently discussing this matter with other companies and planning to request investigations to the Ministry of culture, sports and tourism and the KFTC.

“Depending on the result we are planning take this to the prosecutors’ office. Hope these suspicions get cleared so we can all go back to our real job.”

Do you guys think SHAUN really played the charts or did his song truly climbed the ranks naturally?
