Learn Some Basic Barista Skills for FREE This Weekend

There is nothing quite like a cup of hot coffee to appreciate the cool weather 6,000 feet above sea level at Resorts World Genting.

Well, how about three entire days dedicated to the art, science and love of the coffee bean at the Genting Coffee Festival happening this weekend?

Taking place over 19th to 21st October (Friday to Sunday), the inaugural Genting Coffee Festival promises to be a fun-filled exploration of all things coffee, from bean to cup.

In partnership with NESCAFE and the Barista Guild Asia (BGA), the Times Swuare at SkyAvenue mall will be transformed into an exciting and enticing laboratory of java.

Over the course of three days, Malaysian coffee aficionados will be able to participate in a variety of activities spanning the entire supply chain of the humble bean which are worth RM500 each session.

These include coffee appreciation sessions, where highly qualified experts will be on hand to guide guests through a Bean to Cup story, telling a tale of how coffee went from a fruit found in the highlands of Ethiopia to travelling the globe as the world’s favourite beverage, complete with samples from major production areas.

Guests can also challenge their taste buds at these sessions, attempting to guess coffee – whether local, pure soluble, stale, commercial or speciality – just from the taste.

Specialist classes will also be available. At the Sensory Cupping class, participants can sample a variety of different coffee intensities.

There is also latte art class, where steady hands will be required to form hearts, flowers or even spell out words through the simple combination of milk foam and careful gestures.

A brewing class will explore the various and varied way that coffee becomes a beverage, whether it is through simple stirring or utensils such as drippers, siphons or French Press.

Interspaced among these classes will be an espresso tasting and sensory station, as well as skilled baristas showcasing their latte art and crafting beverage recipes through mixology demonstrations and utilising the wide range of coffee products from NESCAFE.
