The annual solar eclipse phenomenon that occurred on 26 December went viral on social media. Based on science, it occurs when the sun, the moon, and the earth are aligned.

FYI, the annual solar eclipse only happens once every 20 years. The natural phenomenon occurs when the moon covers the sun’s centre, which results in the sun’s visible outer edge to form a ring of fire around the moon.

This spectacular natural phenomenon has garnered attention among people across the world as the last solar eclipse took place was on 28 August 1998. Today is a very special day as it is a rare occurrence when the annular solar eclipse day and the first day of the 12th lunar month come together?? Today, the Moon moved into position to obscure the Sun at 1.28pm on Thursday (Dec 26) and form a “ring of fire”, in what has been dubbed the “greatest astronomical event in Singapore”. The next annular solar eclipse will only happen again in Singapore in 2063. I probably be gone by then. Hence, take a step back, let go of the little things in life that made us unhappy, look at the bigger picture and strive tobe happy & positive at all times, and treasure our loved ones and the present moment. And if you missed this one, unfortunately the next solar eclipse will take place on 21st May 2031, so you’ll have to wait another 12 years more to witness this phenomenon!
