Feel the Tickles When You Feast in The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden

Britain’s favourite fish and chips has arrived in Malaysian shores! Or a Malaysian mountaintop, to be precise.

So, we bid a warm welcome to The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden at Resorts World Genting – a classic slice of British cuisine in a quintessentially British setting in a truly Malaysian location.

As part of the resort’s drive to bring and introduce more international F&B brands to Malaysia, Malaysia’s first authentic ‘chippie’ fish & chips restaurant from the UK.

Soft opened earlier this year, the grand opening saw the ceremony attended by His Excellency Charles Hay, British High Commissioner, Dato Edward Holloway, Executive Vice President Leisure & Hospitality of Resort World Genting and Judd Williams, International Development Director for the Boparan Restaurant Group, The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden.

Dato’ Edward Holloway said,

“It’s great to stand here in a true slice of Britain brought all the way to Malaysia by Harry Rasmden.

“This is the first and only fish and chips shop of its kind in Malaysia, and we are certain that our ‘chippie’ will be a hit with our guests.

“It continues our drive to bring unique, sophisticated and cool culinary concepts from all across the world – from Brooklyn’s Motorino, London’s Burger & Lobster, Paris’ Cafes Richard and tapas from Spain at La Fiesta – under one roof at our humble mountaintop.

“So to all our guests, welcome to Britain and let’s tuck in!”

The restaurant located on Level 4 of SkyAvenue was transformed into jolly ol’ London for an evening.

With appearances by the Union Flag, royal beefeaters standing at attention, the arrival carpet was full of pomp and circumstance, which is just the way Britain is.

As a unicyclist on a gleaming neon unicycle deftly twisted balloons into fishy sculptures to be handed out, guests mingled together in the restaurant, whetting their appetites with the delicious smell of frying fish and fresh chips emanating from the kitchen.

In the UK, Harry Ramsden is known as ‘Britain’s longest established restaurant chain’, serving up fish and chips since 1928.

The chain has now expanded to 35 restaurants in the British Isles and makes its first Malaysian appearance at Resorts World Genting through The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden – an elevated take on the Harry Ramsden jovial atmosphere created especially for Resorts World Genting.

Judd Williams, International Development Director for the Boparan Restaurant Group

“This is a truly exciting new horizon for us.

“The Harry Ramsden brand has always had international ambitions in Malaysia, a country that has long and great ties with Britain, and what better place to begin that dream than in Resorts World Genting.

“And so we arrive here with a debut concept – one that offers a fantastically classic British pub menu, which includes our world-famous fish and chips, served in a traditional English pub atmosphere that symbolises all that is great about Great Britain and Harry Ramsden!”

While taking in the delightfully authentic recreation of a British seaside pub and waiting to be seated for their four-course meal – which started with Laughing Prawn Cocktail, followed by Fish Curry with Double Fried Chips, a choice of Haddock or Cod Fish and Chips and wrapped up with a Chocolate Brownie or Eton Mess – guests were treated to a unique musical collaboration.

With The Laughing Fish aiming to provide a modern British gastropub experience, guests got to enjoy the cool night breeze of the mountain while trying out some of Harry Ramsden’s signature drinks, including the Laughing Fish Signature Lemonade and the Laughing Fish Rose Lemonade.

The Laughing Fish by Harry Ramsden is located on Level 4, SkyAvenue.

The take-away counter is open from 12pm to 12am from Sundays to Thursdays, and from 12pm to 1am from Fridays to Saturdays.

The pub is open from 12pm to 11pm on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 12pm to 1am from Fridays to Saturdays.

Folk singer Aiden o Brian will entertain guests with live music from 6pm to 8.45pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 5pm to 8.45pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Genting Rewards customers can also enjoy 5x Genting Points (GP) when they dine or take away at the restaurant. For more information, please call +603 6101 1118 visit Resorts World Genting’s website.
