Media Prima Digital and XPAX Take E-Sports to Another Level with a RM180,000 Jackpot

Kejohanan E-Sukan Kampus (KEK) is an e-sports tournament held by Media Prima Digital in partnership with XPAX and other partners for all higher education institution students in promoting healthy gaming. The launch was held at Starling Mall on the 29th of January 2019.

KEK is an initiative to enhance the e-sports industry and to show that gaming also has a bright future for young gamers who wish to be professional gamers.

In the upcoming 2020 SEA Games, e-sports will be a medal sport and KEK also wishes to scout for gamers who have the potential to represent the country for the respective e-games.

MyGameOn as the organiser in collaboration with their e-sports partner Kitamen invites all students from five different zones all over the nation to come and join the tournament.

Beginning in February, all teams will battle it out for a Top 16 placing via qualifying rounds. The qualifying teams for each game of each zone will hustle it out in the zone final that will be held in March.

The three different game categories are Mobile Legends Bang Bang, Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 and DOTA 2. This tournament would be an annual event and will introduce other games as time goes by.

Media Prima Digital CEO, Rafiq Razali said,

“Media Prima Digital is committed to the continuous development and growth of esports in Malaysia and that is why we came out with KEK.”

“We’re happy to actively encourage the e-sports industry through various initiatives under our gaming portal, MyGameOn and with KEK, we hope to educate over 1 million students from all higher learning institutes throughout the country on healthy gaming, and the potential this industry will have for their future career.”

A cash prize pool of RM180,000 will be on the line, with RM50,000 from it will be in the form of scholarships for the institute that has the greatest number of winners brought to them by Celcom XPAX.

The remaining RM50,000 will be prized for both Mobile Legend Bang Bang (MLBB) and DOTA 2, and the balance of RM30,000 will go to the winners of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.

The tournament has a lot more to it by introducing the XPAX HACKATHON where students will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to the organising committee for a chance to win exclusive prizes from XPAX. Other educational elements will also be instilled during the zone finals.

So guys, what are you all waiting for? Gather up the team and sign up now at www.mygameon.my
