And now, we have another Malaysian child that not only did proud to her family, but the nation as well! Instantaneously after the news of her success broke on BBC, it literally took its fair round amongst other Malaysians on social media.

Her name is Farah Roslan.

Being creative and innovative, Farah Roslan has done something that no one had ever done! A hospital trust believes it is the first in the UK to introduce disposable sterile headscarves for staff to use in operating theatres.

▲ Ms Tierney mentored Ms Roslan at Royal Derby Hospital.

Farah—who is now a junior doctor at the Royal Derby Hospital revealed that the idea came along as early as when she was still a medical student at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust. It all started when she had concerns of infection on her hijab that she had been wearing throughout the day.

“I’d been using [the same headscarf] all day which obviously wasn’t clean and ideal. I didn’t feel comfortable taking it off and I was pulled out from the theatre, respectfully, due to infection control.”

Not cutting off from her passion and her faith, she seek to find the middle ground between the two.

Farah revealed that prior creating the design and testing fabrics, she had looked to the country of her birth—Malaysia. Even though her disposable sterile hijab isn’t yet introduced internationally, but the consultant surgeon Gill Tierney, who mentored Farah, hoped that the effect would spread on and be enormous.

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust said the new headscarves were available to use for the first time earlier in December 2019.

Once again, Farah Roslan we are very proud of you! All the best for your career!
